Wangford with Henham Parish Council
The meetings cover a variety of local issues and always commence with Declaration of Interest. Any personal interest in any matter that is to be discussed at the meeting must be declared at this point. Often Councillor’s with declared interests will be asked to leave the meeting whilst the matter is discussed. Apologies are given next. Every elected Councillor is summoned to attend and must therefore give a good reason and apology if they can not attend a meeting. The meeting then moves onto the County and District Councillor’s Report. This is currently Councillor Wendy Mawer, who generally attends every meeting. She updates Councillors on matters of interest and concern at County and District level. The minutes from the previous meeting are then signed as a true record by the Chairman, following a vote by Councillors’. Reports follow. This section is a report back from Councillor’s on outstanding matters and items discussed for action at the previous meeting. Following this the Clerk gives a report on the Council’s finances, both expenditure and income and current bank balances. Councillor’s have to accept and vote for monies to be paid by cheque. Any correspondence received by the Council is next read and discussed. Any correspondence of general interest is put in an envelope and circulated around the Councillors’ after the meeting. Following this section any new agenda items are discussed. Anyone can ask the Clerk to put an item up for discussion at the meeting and this will be put on the agenda and raised at the next meeting. Following this Planning is discussed. Any planning applications are passed from the Local Planning Authority to the Parish Council for Finally, Any Other Business is discussed. Every Councillor present has the opportunity to raise any matter of interest. Decisions can not be made on items in this section and any items that require a vote would have to be put on the agenda for discussion and vote at the next meeting. Following Any Other Business the meeting closes. The meeting generally last for 1½ to 2 hours. Members of the public are entitled to attend and are given the opportunity to talk in the Public Forum section of the meeting. They can not join the meeting or vote in any other part of the meeting, but can attend and listen. See below for contact names and numbers and minutes of previous meetings.
